~ ANIMAL MAGNETS IN "CHENILLE STITCHING" ON 5-COUNT PLASTIC CANVAS ~ Copyright 2004 by Cherie Marie Leck www.CraftDesigns4You.com
Please print these instructions in addition to the individual graph.
Size: Approximately 4" x 6" each
Materials:
1 sheet 5-count clear plastic canvas
12-inch Chenille Stems in Red and Black
Magnetic Strip 2" long
Wire Cutters
Small Pliers
Craft Glue
Tips:
Work with the chenille stems the same way you would yarn, except you don't need a needle. To start, leave a 1/2" piece of the stem behind your work and cover over it with the next stitches. Make sure to pull each stem through gently, especially when overcasting - since the wire can break the plastic canvas. When you reach the end of the stem, trim 1/4" at the back of work and bend the end over twice with pliers and push into back of work so that no sharp ends are sticking out. Avoid overhandling the work to keep the stems fluffy. It's a good idea to work from the top to the bottom to avoid overcrushing the stems. When overcasting, leave 1/2" behind the work and overcast over this end. When making single backstitches (like for a nose) start by bending the end over twice, the same way that you end.
Instructions:
Cut out each piece according to graph. Follow individual instructions on graphs for colors, eyes, and assembly. All stitches are done in continental stitches and backstitches.
